Traditional methods of bitumen removal often involve the use of harsh chemicals, high-pressure water, or abrasive materials. How It Works

Dry ice blasting operates by accelerating dry ice pellets through a specialized blasting machine at high speeds. When these pellets impact the bitumen-covered surface, they cause three primary effects:

1. Thermal Shock: The extreme cold temperature of dry ice (-78.5°C or -109.3°F) causes the bitumen to contract and become brittle, making it easier to break apart.
2. Micro-Explosions: Upon impact, the dry ice sublimates (transitions from solid to gas) instantly. This rapid expansion creates micro-explosions that help dislodge the bitumen from the surface.
3. Kinetic Energy: The high-velocity pellets physically abrade and remove the bitumen.
