Another manic couple of months have just passed by in the world of dry ice blasting. After getting the factory shut down blast cleans organised and completed, we were informed that we had been chosen as the preferred bidder for a large contract at Jaguar Land Rover. I would like to congratulate everyone involved in getting this ‘over the line’ but especially Frank Burke for committing to some lengthy trials at their UK sites and to Fiona Girling for putting together such an excellent proposal pack. We managed to beat a couple of dry ice blasting companies, along with some large FM companies, to win this order, which always makes the result more rewarding!
The blast booth areas JLR have constructed really are second to none. Everything is automated with worker safety and comfort built in as a priority. Automatic Co2 level monitoring, three air changes per minute, a filtration system as powerful as I’ve ever seen, tool ‘turntable’ positioning…. The list goes on. In the vast array of factories I have worked in over the years, I can honestly say there is nothing else like this in the UK!
Our half yearly forecasts are again looking pretty strong with some exciting new avenues opening up for Optimum Dry Ice Blasting. A massive push into the energy sector has yielded fantastic results and we are now the registered supplier for Cryogenic Blasting Services for GDF Suez UK. Some of the earmarked works to be carried out over all UK sites will include HRSG cleaning, Stator and Rotor dry ice blasting and internal tank cleaning.
Part of the reason we were chosen as the preferred service contractor, over our competitors, was due to the fact that we can now offer full, comprehensive rope access work. And this isn’t just for dry ice blasting. As mentioned on a previous blog (read here) we have recently employed a rope access expert, in James Mulholland, to lead a small team
in this highly skilled field of work. We have found that when we blast remove a surface, the customer invariably requires a new surface application and all in the same timeframe. We can now offer this service and have trained in the application of industrial paints. Needless to say we have had a huge amount of interest in the service, and this is just from existing customers! New webpage will be open soon and we will then roll the service out to new customers/sectors.
Again, exciting times ahead for Optimum and with a new recruitment drive now active, further expansion of the company is reflecting growth.
